Prompt of the day ·
A word made of particles that bursts under your cursor
The word “LUMEN” is drawn with thousands of glowing particles, amber to pink. The cursor blasts them away and they spring back into place, leaving soft trails. No libraries: one canvas and one loop.
Make one index.html, no libraries. Full-screen black hero. Draw the word "LUMEN" in a huge bold sans-serif on an offscreen canvas, wide enough to fill 85% of the screen width on any screen (phones too), centered. Sample its pixels every 4 px and turn each one into a particle. Particles spring back to their home spot with damping. The cursor (or a finger) is a 140 px force field that blasts them away, so the word bursts and re-forms. Each frame, paint a translucent black rect for soft trails and draw particles with additive blending so they glow, colored with a gradient from amber to hot pink across the word. Slow idle shimmer so it's alive even without input. Use typed arrays and one loop: 60 fps on a phone.717 characters · Made with canvas 2D · worked first time · The post on X

- Where do I paste this prompt?
- Into any assistant that writes code: Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Lovable or Claude Code. Ask for a single index.html file, save it and open it in the browser. It uses canvas 2D.
- Can I use it on my website?
- Yes. The prompt is free and the code your assistant writes is yours. If you’d rather have the finished version, with your photos and words and ready to publish, there’s the related kit.
- Is the video what really comes out?
- Yes. It’s the page the prompt made, filmed without touching the code by hand, first time. Every assistant writes different code, so yours may vary a little.
