Promti or a Canva website: a page made in minutes, or one made in 3D
Canva, the design app, also publishes websites. You turn a design into a site — a website template, or something you already made in Canva — publish it for free on a my.canva.site address, and move to Canva Pro for your own domain, unlimited sites and no “Designed with Canva” footer. Its own pages sell it on speed: a site in minutes, next to the rest of your designs.
Promti sells finished sites of one kind: a single page with a real-time 3D scene at its centre, one kit for each kind of business. You answer a wizard, see the site as it takes shape, pay once, and download the files to host where you like.
The real difference: a Canva site is quick and nearly free, and it lives on Canva; a Promti page takes the 3D much further, costs €500, and the files are yours.
Side by side
| — | Promti | Canva |
|---|---|---|
| How you pay | €500, one payment, and nothing after it. | Publishing is free. Canva Pro, for your own domain and no Canva footer, is €12 a month or €110 a year for one person; Canva says its prices outside the US and Canada include tax. |
| The free version | The wizard costs nothing; you pay when you download the finished site. | Five sites on my.canva.site, a “Designed with Canva” footer that can’t be removed, and at most 10 sections per published page. |
| What you get | A finished page around a 3D scene: your words, colours and links go in, and your photos, screenshots, project pictures or model where the kit asks for them. | Canva’s editor and templates — events, weddings, portfolios, restaurants, link in bio — with hosting and SSL, in the same place as your other Canva designs. |
| Hosting and domain | On any host; the guide uses Cloudflare Pages’ free plan. Your domain, bought where you like, is about €10–15 a year. | Canva hosts it. A domain you own connects on Pro, five at a time. Domains bought through Canva cost US$10–20 a year, it says, and .es isn’t among its extensions. |
| Pages | One page; the download adds a legal page and a 404. | One page or up to 45, each at its own address, with up to 20 sections a page on paid plans. |
| Forms and selling | Studio’s contact form sends through Web3Forms; Product and App sell through Stripe payment links, Forest links to your bookings. | Forms of up to 10 questions with anonymous answers, which Canva says aren’t available to everyone yet. Its pages describe no cart or checkout. |
| Motion and 3D | The page is one real-time 3D scene that the visitor scrolls through. | Animations of up to 10 seconds, more on Pro, and over 10,000 ready-made 3D elements — or AI-made ones on Pro — that visitors can rotate: five per page, none uploaded by you. |
| Search engines | Title, description, sharing tags, robots.txt and, once you add your domain, a sitemap; the words are HTML. | A title, description and address per page, a favicon and an automatic sitemap. On a free Canva address, Google Search Console can’t be used, Canva says. |
| The files | A zip with every file of the site, to keep and to host. | No HTML among Canva’s download types, which are images, PDF, video and office files. The site stays on Canva. |
| When Pro ends | Nothing ends: there’s no subscription. | Your designs stay, and the “Designed with Canva” footer comes back on every published site, custom domain or not. |
| Languages | One per site, English or Spanish, set in the wizard. | No multilingual sites; its Translate tool copies a design into another language, one at a time. |
| Help | Guides in the download for your domain, email and Google; a 30-minute call with Eric if you get stuck. | An AI assistant, help requests to specialists and live chat for some issues, languages and hours; priority help on Business. |
Promti fits when…
- The site should impress in 3D as a whole, not through a few 3D objects to turn.
- You want the files, hosted where you choose, rather than a site that lives inside a design app.
- You want a legal page with your details, plus guides for the domain, the email and Google, in the same download.
- You’d rather pay once than keep a subscription running to hold on to your domain and leave out the footer.
- Your business is one of the four the kits are made for, and one page says what it needs to.
Canva fits when…
- It has to be free, or close to it: publishing on Canva costs nothing.
- It’s for an event, a wedding, a launch or a link in bio — quick, and maybe short-lived.
- You already design everything in Canva and want the site to match, in the same app.
- You need several pages, up to 45, or several separate sites.
- Several people will edit it together in real time, on the free plan too.
What each costs
Promti: €500 once. With Cloudflare’s free plan the hosting is €0; a domain adds roughly €10–15 each year, so three years put some €30–45 on top of the €500.
Canva: a site on my.canva.site is free, with Canva’s footer on it. For your own domain and no footer, Canva Pro is €110 a year or €12 a month — €330 or €432 over three years — with tax included, according to Canva, plus the domain: US$10–20 a year through Canva, or the one you already have.
At the free level, nothing here is cheaper than Canva, and three years of Pro still come to less than a kit. What the kit’s price pays for is the page itself — built around real-time 3D — and files that don’t depend on a subscription.
Questions
- Can I download my Canva website as HTML?
- Not according to Canva’s own list of download types, which has images, PDF, video, presentations and spreadsheets but no HTML: the site is published and hosted by Canva. Only Canva Code, its AI coding feature, lets you copy the code it writes. With Promti, what you download is the site itself, to keep.
- Does Canva make 3D websites?
- It adds 3D elements to a design: over 10,000 ready-made ones, or ones made with AI on Pro, which visitors can rotate on the published site — up to five per page, and you can’t upload your own 3D files. The page around them is a flat design. In a Promti kit the page and the 3D scene are one thing, and the scroll moves through it.
- Is a Canva website good for Google?
- It covers the basics: a title, description and address for each page, a favicon and a sitemap Canva makes for you. On a free my.canva.site address you can’t use Google Search Console, and Canva itself recommends a custom domain if search matters. A Promti site gets the same basics, and its text is HTML over the scene.
- What happens to my Canva site if I cancel Pro?
- Your designs stay, but the “Designed with Canva” footer returns on every published website, whether it’s on a free address or your own domain. A Promti site has no plan to cancel, so nothing on it changes.
- Can I use my own domain on Canva for free?
- Connecting a domain you already own needs Pro. On buying one through Canva its pages disagree: the builder’s FAQ says it needs Pro, while the help centre and the terms say anyone can. Either way, a domain costs US$10–20 a year through Canva, it says.
