Promti vs Squarespace: a 3D page you keep, or a site you subscribe to
Squarespace is a website platform you subscribe to: templates, a drag-and-drop editor, hosting, a blog, a store and forms, paid monthly or yearly. There’s no free plan; every site starts with a 14-day trial.
Promti works the other way round. Each kit is an immersive site already made for one kind of business — a product, a place, an app, a studio — and a wizard puts your name, words and colours into it while you watch. Payment happens once, and then the files are yours to download.
Put simply: Squarespace is a place to build and run a site that can grow in any direction; what Promti hands over is one finished page, with its 3D scene, that becomes yours.
Side by side
| — | Promti | Squarespace |
|---|---|---|
| How you pay | A single payment of €500. Nothing monthly or yearly goes to Promti. | A subscription, with no free plan. Basic is €17 a month billed monthly or €12 billed yearly; Core €24 or €18; Plus €42 or €32; Advanced €79 or €69 (prices for Spain). VAT goes on top. |
| What you get | A single immersive page, finished, from the kit that suits your business. Your text, colours and links go in, and — depending on the kit — project images, app screenshots or, with Product, your own .glb model. | Templates, a drag-and-drop editor, hosting, a built-in blog, a store with unlimited products, forms and AI tools. |
| Hosting and domain | Wherever you like. Following the guides, it goes up on Cloudflare Pages at no hosting cost, with HTTPS; expect €10–15 a year for a domain. | Included, in Squarespace’s cloud. Yearly plans add a free domain for the first year, from its cheapest tier; it then renews at the standard rate, plus tax. |
| Changing it later | Your answers wait in the browser you used. Edit them, download a fresh copy and drop the folder onto your host — or open the HTML yourself. | Whenever you like, in its editor. The plan can move up or down, or be cancelled, at any time; the change applies at the end of the billing cycle. |
| Pages and blog | Everything sits on one page, in one language: English or Spanish. There’s no blog and no CMS to log into. | Multiple pages and a built-in blog, with tags, categories and comments. |
| Selling | The buy buttons open your Stripe payment link — one for the Product kit’s single product, one per plan in the App kit; the page carries no cart or inventory. Stripe’s standard rate for a European card is 1.5% + €0.25. | Every plan sells unlimited products. Squarespace Payments charges from 2.0% + €0.25 per card on Basic and Core; Basic also takes 2% of online store sales, Core and up 0%. |
| Bookings | A booking button that opens your Cal.com page, your Airbnb or Booking.com listing, or your booking system. Availability is managed there. | Through Acuity Scheduling, a separate subscription: Starter is €13 a month billed yearly or €14 monthly, plus VAT. |
| Motion and 3D | Real-time 3D is what the kit is made of: built with three.js, the scene travels as the visitor scrolls. | Site-wide animations as you scroll — fade, scale, slide, clip, flex — plus background art and video. 3D would mean custom code: JavaScript and iframes in code blocks need Core or above, and custom code falls outside Squarespace’s support. |
| The files | Every file of the site in plain HTML, CSS and JS, typefaces included, with nothing pointing back to Promti. | An .xml export of some content, meant for WordPress. Style settings, custom CSS, store pages and several other page types stay behind. |
| If you cancel | No subscription, so nothing lapses. Renewing the domain each year is the one cost left. | Visitors get a “Website expired” message. Resubscribing brings the site back, as long as its content hasn’t been deleted in the meantime. |
| Time to launch | Within the day: fill in the wizard, pay, download, and the publishing guide takes about five minutes. | The 14-day trial needs no card; the site is ready once you’ve built it. |
| Help | Written guides for every step after the download, and half an hour on a call with Eric if something gets stuck. | Email around the clock; live chat on weekdays, 24 hours a day in Spanish. No phone support. |
Promti fits when…
- What you sell or show gains from 3D: a product turning under the light, a day at your place, your app’s screens on real devices, your work on gallery walls.
- A single payment suits you better than a fee every month or every year.
- Your site is one page with one job: sending people to buy, to book or to write to you.
- You’d like to check the result, with your own content in it, before spending anything.
- You want the site’s files on your own computer, to host wherever you choose.
Squarespace fits when…
- A store: unlimited products and, from Core up, no transaction fee on store sales.
- Appointments with reminders and payment at booking, through Acuity.
- A blog with categories, tags and comments.
- You’ll change the site often and want to do it in the browser, with no files involved.
- More pages as the business grows: a menu, a team page, a press page, whatever comes up.
What each costs
With Promti the sum is short: a single €500, taxes included, then roughly €10–15 a year for a domain, while Cloudflare hosts it for nothing. Over the first year that’s €500 and €10–15; across three, €500 and €30–45.
Squarespace Basic, before VAT: €12 a month billed yearly is €144 a year and €432 over three years; billed monthly at €17, it’s €204 a year and €612 over three. Core, which adds JavaScript and iframes and drops the 2% store fee, is €18 a month billed yearly: €216 a year, €648 over three. Only the first year of a yearly plan comes with the domain free.
Taking appointments adds Acuity: Starter at €13 a month billed yearly comes to €156 a year, or €468 over three years, before VAT.
Questions
- Does Squarespace have a free plan?
- No. Every Squarespace site starts with a 14-day free trial, with no card needed, and then needs a paid plan. On Promti the whole wizard is free to use, start to finish; payment comes only when you want the download.
- Can I take my Squarespace site with me if I leave?
- Only in part. Squarespace exports some content to an .xml file meant for WordPress; the design, custom CSS and several page types stay behind. A Promti site is a folder of files from the first day.
- Can a Promti site take appointments the way Squarespace does with Acuity?
- It sends people to book somewhere else: a Cal.com page, your listing or your booking system. The calendar, the reminders and any payment at booking live there, not on the page. If you want all of that inside your own site, Squarespace with Acuity does it.
- Can I put 3D on a Squarespace site?
- Its animations come built in, but 3D would be custom code: a code block with JavaScript or an iframe, available from the Core plan up. Squarespace says custom code is outside its support, so looking after it would fall to you.
- Is a Promti site ready for Google?
- It comes with a title, a description, sharing tags, robots.txt and, once you give it your address, a sitemap. A short guide takes you through Search Console to submit it, in about ten minutes. Squarespace has its own SEO tools in every plan.
